Compositions

Into intermission

This piece was written for a Production of Cyrano De Bergerac at the Texas Shakespeare Festival. Was used to end the first half of the show, and bring the audience into intermission. Was meant to evoke a sense longing and sadness because Cyrano and Christian were both being sent to the frontlines.

Warsong

Also written for Cyrano De Bergerac, it was written as a bit of transition music ending Intermission and beginning the second half of the play (for us it was Act IV “the Gascon Cadets”).

The Music Box

I wrote this song for UTEP’s Production of Humbug/Sugarplum. My inspiration was to evoke a broken instrument (Scrooge) that used to, and still can, play a beautiful song (being able to love again). To accomplish this I created multiple versions of it played at different speeds and keys depending on what emotions I wanted to evoke.

The Waterphone

Also Created for Humbug/Sugarplum, I created this using a waterphone, some sound effects, and scored it to the projection design of the Ghost of Christmas Future torturing Scrooge. The idea was “turn into spin” of the ghost story aspect of A Christmas Carol, and what better way to do that than with this classic horror movie instrument.

Arrangements

Swashbuckling

I arranged this piece as a fun homage to Errol Flynn’s swashbuckling adventure movies. I found a fun melody on a royalty free website, and added the rest of the orchestra that you hear in the background.

String Quartet

This piece was created as a piece of music for an “offstage string quartet” for Cyrano De Bergerac. I found a pre-existing melody on a royalty free MIDI site, and then added the rest of the quartet.
